- Ford vehicles are transitioning to online diagnostics, but variations in flash counters and CVN among their models make issues less common.
- European brands like BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and VW pose challenges due to their sophisticated diagnostic systems. We’ve developed warranty detection patches for many models to reverse flash counters and conceal modifications, minimizing the risk of detection.
These brands employ online diagnostic systems that track vehicles by VIN number, logging all faults and modifications. BMW has particularly stringent policies; any detected software changes can lead to suspension of warranty and service plans pending investigation.
CVN (Calibration Vehicle Number) is crucial for traceability. Any discrepancies between the CVN and online diagnostic systems can raise flags.
VW & Audi conduct TD1 checks to compare original software versions with current ones, flagging any discrepancies. Mercedes employs similar systems.
To preserve warranty integrity, reverting vehicles to factory original software versions may be necessary. BMW, in particular, has rigorous detection measures even during routine services.
For most other models, routine maintenance doesn’t pose warranty issues.
